When my friend told me about Otto Orondaam i thought to myself how can someone have such a wonderful heart. Otto ( Hawt dude) was a corper like me, Heheheheheheh in Muri Okunola local government Victoria Island, Lagos *wink* We started our National youth service in July 2011 and few months down my friend told me that Otto who was currently serving with Zenith Bank ( same Zenith that corpers were dying to serve with) had quit his job and wanted to start a project that will help take children off the streets and into the classroom.she later said he spoke with Nysc about it and was reposted to Freedom foundation and soon after The slum2school project rolled into action. Instead of Otto enjoying his air conditioned office he was under the sun at least 3 times a week going to Makoko to visit children and supplying them with food and clothing * OMG*. With the help of wonderful volunteers so far, they have been able to send 118 children to school and intend on sending more. Otto was awarded most outstanding corper 2012 (Lagos state honors award), The future awards 2012 for Innovation in Education, The Nigerian CSR Award for contribution towards the Millenium development goals and Winner African sustainable showcase......need I say more this Gentleman has shown compassion and good will and has proved to a lot of youths that there is hope if we all decide to be that change.
We all take our stand and together and build the Nigeria we dream about by supporting a child today! As statistics have shown that over 10 million children across Nigeria are currently out of school, let's give hope to those children who have never seen a classroom and give them a future that would be free of poverty.....
